UK Government supports Scotland’s space sector

Representatives from the UK Cabinet Office came to Bird.i HQ in Glasgow recently to see our office, meet the team, and chat to our Founder and CEO, Corentin, about the support we’ve had to make our goal of ‘democratising satellite imagery’ a reality in Scotland!

Our Glasgow neighbours, Clyde Space, also feature representing the upstream component of our industry.

Check out the video and Corentin’s transcript below!

“Space is exciting and inspiring for a new generation of entrepreneurs. At Bird.i, we empower individuals and businesses alike, to access the best satellite imagery in the world.

With the UK Government investment, through Innovate UK, we’ve been able to de-risk out business and raise our first investment rounds.

We help building firms to track the progress and activities related to their buildings, all over the world, in real time.

In Scotland, we have organisations which manufacture satellites and we have organisations which exploit the data from space. With the creation of a space port, we are now realising the full potential of the space sector in Scotland.”
