About Integrating Bird.i Satellite Imagery with Mapbox

Mapbox is one of the leading mapping platforms available today, and it’s easy to see why: it’s quick and easy to set up, it has a lot of out-of-the-box functionality, and in many cases it’s much cheaper than Google Maps. Many companies have moved to Mapbox from Google Maps, especially since Google increased the price of its Maps API products in mid-2018. With this in mind, we here at Bird.i wanted to make sure that it’s easy to integrate your existing Mapbox maps with our Image Service APIs; with just a few steps, you’ll be able to extend your platform to show the latest high-quality satellite imagery available.

Here’s what our imagery could look like once integrated with Mapbox:

This basic integration example is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the APIs’ capabilities! For example, it displays the most recent image for each location, but our APIs make all the imagery we have for each location available for access; that means you can see historical imagery for each location in order to track changes over time.
